Areas of interest

Patricio's research interests are related to Planetary Sciences. He focuses mainly on ground based observations of atmospheres, both for Solar System planets and Exoplanets, albeit he is also involved in its modeling. He specialized in techniques that involve high precision spectroscopy or time series analysis, as well as multidisciplinary research connected to astrobiology.

Biography

Dr. Rojo obtained his Ph.D. degree at Cornell University in 2007, after which he returned to his home country and initial institution: Universidad de Chile, where he currently is an associate professor at the Astronomy department. His research interest remains mostly centered around ground based observations of atmospheres beyond our own and on the multidisciplinary field of astrobiology. He has taught several undergraduate and graduate courses in astronomy, and been invited as speaker to several conferences. Also, he has organized several scientific conferences and workshops in different regions of Chile and participated in the organizing committee of conferences abroad. Besides, he has been elected for two tenures as president of the Chilean Astronomical Society.
