Area of interest

Patricio's areas of interest lie in planetary science research. In particular, he focuses on the study of atmospheres, using observations from ground-based telescopes, though he is also involved in atmospheric modeling. He specializes in techniques involving high-precision spectroscopy and time-series analysis, as well as multidisciplinary research connected to astrobiology.

Biography

Dr. Rojo earned his doctorate from Cornell University in 2007, after which he returned to Chile and his initial institution, the University of Chile, where he is currently an associate professor in the Department of Astronomy. He has taught several undergraduate and graduate astronomy courses and has given talks at numerous conferences. He has also organized scientific conferences and workshops in different regions of Chile and served on the organizing committees of several conferences abroad. In addition, he was elected president of the Chilean Astronomical Society for two terms.
