Área de interés

I study jets in the nuclei of active galaxies to understand the mechanisms responsible for their emission at high energies. My primary tools are radio telescopes, and I have interest and experience in various aspects such as instrumentation, commissioning, and operation of telescopes. In addition to radio astronomy, I have experience in gamma-ray astronomy, applied statistics, time series analysis, and optimization for telescope observation scheduling.

Biography

Before becoming an assistant professor of astronomy at the University of Chile, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in Socorro, New Mexico, USA, and at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn, Germany. I earned my bachelor's degree in astronomy and my bachelor's and civil electrical engineering degrees from the University of Chile, as well as my master's and doctoral degrees in astrophysics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
