2D-Surface Brightness Analysis of Nearby Gas-Rich Galaxies

Abstract: This study presents a detailed morphological analysis of the galaxies in the Metal-THINGS survey, a sample of 34 nearby, gas-rich, low-inclination galaxies. Using GALFIT to model the surface brightness in three bands (ultraviolet, optical, and near-infrared) with a multi-component approach that accounts for bulges, discs, bars, and spiral arms. The research included the classification of bulges (classical or pseudobulge), estimated the masses of the central supermassive black holes using scaling laws, and revisited fundamental relations such as Kormendy, Tully-Fisher, and Faber-Jackson.
