The Evolution of Gas in and around Galaxies at high-z

In this presentation, I will describe our collaborative effort to understand galaxy evolution using multi-wavelength observations of high-redshift galaxies. I will focus primarily on the gas and dust content within and around these galaxies.

I will examine efforts to characterize the distribution of molecular gas across galaxy populations using blind ALMA surveys. These surveys can reveal gas-rich galaxies that targeted observations may have missed and are prime tools for finding outlier galaxies. For some of these galaxies, we have obtained spatially resolved observations, providing valuable insights into the evolution of gas and dust morphology and kinematics.

In the subsequent section, we will describe our efforts to elucidate the extended gas discovered in the vicinity of galaxies at redshifts of 4-6, which is traced by [CII]. We will also discuss JWST NIRSpec IFU follow-ups conducted to further investigate this phenomenon.

Finally, I will present recent findings obtained using Lyman alpha to elucidate the gas conditions in low-mass galaxies across multiple redshifts. Additionally, we will explore the potential to constrain the neutral-gas content of the intergalactic medium.
